YOUTH ART CHALLENGE

Anchor 1
Young people dream up what would make East Gippsland's tracks and trails in Lakes Entrance

How can I enter?

We encourage young people from Lakes Entrance and surrounds to submit their ideas as either:

  • A short written description

  • A drawing, collage or artwork

  • A short video or voice recording or

  • A conversation with someone from the project team

These three guiding questions will help you prepare your idea in the best possible way:

  1. What would you love to create or change in your community?

  2. Who or what would benefit, and how?

  3. What would you do with $2,000?

We accept individual and group ideas, and offer help to anyone who needs it.

We don't require a formal budget or a polished project plan, just your idea and how it would make East Gippsland's tracks and trails more regenerative, collaborative and fun (especially for young people and their families).

What do we want to see?

Relationships over competition:

Ideas are assessed for how they strengthen relationships, care for Country, build community capacity, restore ecosystems or create lasting local benefits.

Regeneration over one-off solutions:

We would love to see how your idea will create benefits beyond the initial funding, build on existing strengths, empower others to contribute, and leave something behind that can continue to grow, evolve or inspire further change.

Equity over a polished proposal:

A compelling idea, a drawing or a voice recording has as much opportunity as a polished proposal. Confidence, writing ability and access to technology do not determine who gets funded.

Reciprocity and learning:

Every participant gains something from the process, whether or not they receive funding. The fund creates skills, connections, shared learning and opportunities for future action. This challenge is only the beginning as we are planning to run similar challenges across Gippsland!

Regen Gippsland acknowledges the First Peoples – inclusive of formally recognised Traditional Owner groups, Gunaikurnai and Bunurong, and the Traditional Owner groups of the Far East Gippsland region – as the traditional custodians of the lands we now call Gippsland. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, traditions, culture, and hopes of their communities. We acknowledge the importance of fostering conversations centered on the future, drawing from the wisdom of First Nations peoples, with an appreciation for the enduring effects of colonialism and dispossession.
